p-10 Picks (17 - 23 December)

Dear friend,

Things are winding down now it's the year-end so this week we only have 2 local art events we recommend:

1. Opening: Fri (21 Dec), 6.30pm

Laughing Matter

NAFA Gallery 3 (80 Bencoolen St)

Free

This exhibition gathers 6 artists of different orientations, but with a shared commonality where the notion of satire is manifested. Features Boo Sze Yang, Cheng Yi Cheng, Cheo Chai Hiang, Chua Aik Boon, Lim Soo Ngee and Joshua Yang. The exhibition is on till 17 Jan.

2. Now – Sat (22 Dec)

Along the River Banks

Singapore-Tyler Print Institute (41 Robertson Quay)

Tues-Sat: 10am-6pm

Free

The 41 new paper pulp works and prints in this exhibition bear a testament of Chua’s way in handling traditional Chinese ink painting techniques in a contemporary manner. In this new series of works, Chua pays homage to traditional Chinese ink painting themes of nature.

Do check these out. p-10 Picks will also be taking a break after this week so do stay tuned when we return with more recommendations in 2008.

In the meantime, have a great year-end, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Regards,

Jennifer.
