It has been a while since I added any blog entry in this blog. 

Jen and myself were on a trip to Taipei/Tainan/Kao Shiong for the Melting Project Exhibition curatd by Yves Chiu. A very intense exchange with the participants and audience. We enjoyed ourselves even though we actually did not do much sight seeing, it was really mainly work. Below are some info from the facebook events. (don't you hate the way Facebook searches doesn't successfully return with previous events.. - yah facebook is all about now!)

 「梅爾汀計畫」以「對話的欲望」與「對話的形式」作為兩個探討「對話」活動與觀念之核心，並以「一年對話實踐」遊戲規則邀請六位（組）藝術家許芳慈（台灣）＋Post-Museum（新加坡）、高俊宏（台灣）＋麥巔（中國）、包麗莎（Lisa BAUER-ZHAO，德國）＋趙立東（中國/德國）參與這一計畫，以2014年一整年為期進行「對話」。

實驗期程（2014年）結束後，我們提出「縫線、鬼故事、逃離」這三件事來探討、呈現對話的各種層次──欲望、情境、機制、規則、過程、產物等，並與台北竹圍工作室、台南齁空間合作籌辦兩場「梅爾汀論壇」，希冀以更多元的「對話形式」與「主題」碰觸，延展梅爾汀精神與可能之後續反應。

Vegging out at 新佛界

After Monday's soup kitchen session. A few of us went to 新佛界, new fut Kai restaurant for dinner. 2 reasons -1) farewell dinner to Sean as he makes his way to Austria. 2) support this wonderful veg restaurant for giving us a discounted rate for the bee Hoon for Soup Kitchen.

Also, seeing the 'for sale sign', I wanna do my bit to help. It will be sad to see them go. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. Each of us paid around - $15 for this wonderful spread. The veg sharks fin soup is very nice. (comfort food for Ted:) and best part, no sharks were harmed.

year end week report!

The year is ending. updates this week so far.

It was nice to catch up with Brandon and Olivia on Christmas Eve before they left for their respective holidays. They were playing with the fancy new camera which Brandon got.

The Vox camerata performance was lovely. The food was nice too. Also, a big thank u to the boys to turned up to help out. Ming Tan, Ted, Ser Ming and Shao Han.

A vegan girl called asking about the job. Just added her as a facebook friend.

Figured out how to jailbreak my phone and using it finally. Still the SMS interface suxs.

this a really fun and creative - fund raising for the cyclone nargis victims which happened at Post-Museum.

Art show aimed at shattering social barriers has barrier shattered

On 22nd April 2008, the Post-Museum staff arrives at work shocked to find that the gallery window shattered. The police was alerted immediately and after the investigation, the case was categorised as mischief as no artworks were stolen from the exhibition.

This incident has left the artists, friends and the staff at Post-Museum wondering if this was just a freak incident or a member of public who finds the exhibition too offensive for their liking.

Artist, Eileen A. Reynolds commented that "When I first heard about this incident, I asked myself if it could be someone who feels strongly against Joan's work?" The exhibition, Influx, features the work of Eileen A. Reynolds and Joan Kelly is based on portraits of foreign workers, prostitutes and maids.

Could the broken window be the handiwork of someone who finds the work insulting, degrading or a little obscene for their liking? At this point, there are no suspects but fortunately the neighborhood residents have been alerted and some volunteered to keep a watch out for any suspicious characters hanging around Post-Museum when the staff goes home.

Sadly, replacing the broken glass window will now eat into Post-Musuem's limited resources. Woon Tien Wei, curatorial team at the Post-Museum commented that, "Art can make people do strange things, I understand that completely. If you are unhappy with the artwork, talk to the artist, blog about it, discuss with friends. Replacing the window will cost us quite a bit of money. Especially at this time when prices of everything is going up. I 'd rather spend it on developing more meaningful cultural programmes for the public."

Despite all the commotion surrounding this incident, the show will go on, Influx will run until 28 April.

synopsis on exhibition:

Eileen Anastasia Reynolds and Joan Kelly present a body of work that critiques, celebrates and reflects upon the multifarious nature of Singapore's working communities. They approach their subject from two singular perspectives, but with a shared consciousness of their own expatriate status in Singapore, as educators at the Nanyang Technological University.

The painterly exuberance of Joan's painted portraits evinces her emotional involvement with the subject matter. The prostitutes, construction site workers and taxi drivers all seem to reflect back the charm with which they are perceived. This is in contrast to the objective distance on display in Eileen's photographs and videos of the same subject matter. However, it is distance made intimate by the whimsical digital manipulations and editing strategies that she employs.

These two artists are connected by little more than their subject matter yet together their work produces an engaging synthesis: mutable and complex, contradictory and in flux.

Not that we got a budget to play with at the moment.

Trying to work out projects and funding. Anyway, there are so many things to do but like what ah seng says, "I only got 1 hand" and he raises 2 hands. (A food #03 joke)

Finally, after all the news of our new home... We are kind of ready to announce the news.

Thanks to all the friends who came down to see Kai Lam's 56 hour performance piece, Anthology Blues last weekend.

Your feedback has been very insightful and yes, we are happy with how this project turned out.

It was nice to have long chats with Kai about his work and through them we have gained a lot insight into his work.

Arrived at KL -- setting up the show.

Jen and myself arrive in KL, we were delayed a little due to somethings cropping up with the renovations.

But we managed and got on the bus... although, I had to get Sze-Chin to the bus station to pick up mini-dv tape for his work.

Silly, me forgot to pass that on to him.

Anyway, more updates, I hope... I am on some very 'weak' connection in this hotel.

Lisa Kelly Talk today

Lisa gave a talk @ Space A today.

It was quite well attended with a good mix of people. For those who couldn't make it, we will try to put the session online soon.
