an interesting way to write::

Just saw the project and thought - it has an interesting way of extending the hyperlink >> making that into a tangible object. transmission out. Woon Tien Wei

Keyboards often eclipse pens as the writing tool of necessity. As computers continue to gain precedence in our lives, we fill a graveyard with lost penmanships and John Hancocks of decreasing legibility. John Geraci combines the personal imprint of handwriting with the connective possibilities of the Internet in his newly released project 'Grafedia,' developed at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program. Elaborating on themes explored in neighbornode--a wireless, localized bulletin network Geraci built in 2004--Grafedia turns the city of New York into a potential webpage. An author can write, draw, even tattoo, a hyperlink onto a public space in the form: my_original_thought@grafedia.net. The author also uploads media corresponding to or enhancing to the location, like an original photograph, to the Grafedia site. Passers who encounter a link can 'click' it by sending a text message to my_original_thought@grafedia.net. In turn, Grafedia beams the author's hidden media back to the inquiring wireless device. Since Grafedia's annotative marks are not anonymous but in fact scrawled by the hands of their authors, viewers are able to follow particular people and stories. And the cherry on top my original photograph? It's a lot fun. - Alyssa Wright

Notes and note.

Just arrived in Perth. Will be away for 1 week. (some work needs to be finished here. ) Meanwhile, p-10ers are working on the docu.center and planning for the year ahead.

Recently met up with the Parasite (artist run space in HK) people.. & had a talk last week by Lise from Spawasser HQ (Berlin) about the space there.

Well, all for now. Hope to find some time to blog a little these few days.

donations needed

was just trying to find out exactly how much more money is needed.
the UN website says they've already raised the estimated budget of US$256M they need. in fact, they got a total of US$3B or more.
so, there's no longer any need to donate money for tsunami relief.
but if you really feel like you have to donate some money to save the world, do have a look around.
the World Food Programme (WFP), for one, is still in need of funding. they seem to be short of funds for many of their operations (not tsunami relief - that's already covered under the donations to UN). so lots of people are still going hungry. also WFP claims to be the UN agency with the lowest overheads and about 90% of donations go directly to the people who need it. for more info, see http://www.wfp.org.

Spring Cleaning @ p-10

A day of spring cleaning @ p-10, now visitors, please take off your shoes! (again)

Let me explain, for the "And we took ourselves out of our hands (In search of the Miraculous)" show - curator, Guo Liang wanted visitors to wear their shoes in. While, we usually like our visitors to take them off, we respect curator's demands. :)

Taking the shoes off - meant many things to me.
1) Easy to keep p-10 clean.
2) We wanted the visitor to feel that they are entering into another space... consiously.

If there is no marking between the outside and inside, it would not make much sense. Thus, it was important to make this distinction.

More cleaning tomorrow. There will be some 'going-ons' in the exhibiting space, after the meeting the other day, we are using the space to sort out the p-10's past activities. We will process the stuff and work in that space. In a way, using this time and space to plan for our future activities. At this moment, our next exhibition will be held in June 2005 onwards.

What other activities?: There will still be talks.

I am consolidating clothes and stuff: If somebody wants it, take it - if not, the rest goes to the Salvation army. (although, most people are donating to the tsunami disaster, it is a bit too late now since they want cash not clothes.) So far, it's a bunch of old clothes, telephone, computer, etc. You may drop by to see this and if you think they are useful, please take it. If you have old stuff to consolidate, share or give to Salvation Army, you can do so. (but I can only take things which fit in my car.) ------===------ Guess that's all.
