Atelier Rakyat

Busy installing the work for Untitled: Lions's Dreams. A fund raising exhibit for
Mdm S's family.

KK, painting the sky and clouds.

Jen - sorting the walls of cardboard.

No pictures - but we ventured to the streets of Chinatown and Little India to find cardboard collectors and buy cardboard for our installation. Asking them how much do they get paid for the cardboard. We paid them a little more for the cardboard. This would clear their load and help them. After the show, we will release the cardboard back onto the streets so that they get collected and converted into cash again.

We spoke to a cardboard collector that is hard of hearing. Poor guy. Had to shout really loud! They don't make much for the hard work. At 2am, saw him still at work.

This project reminded me of Beuy's notion of Social sculpture. I like how the project grows - by forming a participatory structure, it allows us to understand the conditions of the urban poor and how we can make or rather 'sculpt' for a different world.
