Dear friend,
Here are 3 events happening elsewhere in Singapore this week we recommend:
1. Opening: Thu (19 June), 7pm
HanoiHaiku
By Sherman Ong
2902 (11 Mt Sophia Old School)
Free
HanoiHaiku is presented like a visual Haiku. Intentionally left untitled, the juxtaposition of images produces their own narratives, temporal connections, and is open to many interpretations infused with the personal experiences of individual viewers. Part of Month of Photography. Till 5 July.
2. Opening: Sun (22 June), 2pm
A Bowl of Rice
By Zai Kuning
Sculpture Sq (Middle Rd)
Free
Zai is creating two geometric drawings across the gallery space, using an estimated 5000kg of rice. The public is invited to attend the exhibition with a humble contribution of a bowl of rice - or two - which will eventually be donated to voluntary welfare organisations. Till 13 July.
3. Now – 13 July
The End Depends On The Beginning. The Beginning Depends On The End.
By Heman Chong
Third Floor-Hermès (541 Orchard Rd Liat Towers)
10.30am- 7.30pm daily
Free
Inspired by the last paragraphs found in a selection of novels read in the past year, Chong investigates the philosophies, reasons and methods of individuals and communities imagining the future. Here, he is fascinated with the idea of the end of things, utilizing both the form and content of these ‘book ends’ to compose the series of objects on display.
Check these out and have a nice week ahead!

p-10 Update (2-8 June 2008): ArtGoGo Tour and Short+Sweet Chinese plays
Dear friend,
This week, we are doing our first ArtGoGo Tour. Entitled Art, Memory and
People, this specially formulated NAC-AEP programme features veteran
local artist Amanda Heng. The tour gives students the opportunity to
spend 4 hours with the artist, visit the various sites where her work
took place and have a personal dialogue with her. We are looking for
more schools who are interested in this programme, so if you are, do
contact us to arrange a session.
Also, for one night only, this Sat (7 June) from 7-10pm in Post-Museum
Show Room, Short+Sweet Singapore 2008 will be holding a reading session
of 10 short Chinese plays, followed by a small discussion on quality
Chinese plays, led by Richard Chua (Artistic Director, Little Red Shop).
This session is open to public and is pay-what-you-want.
For more info, please call 63963598.
Thanks and see you soon!
